Biography: JOHN GEORGE BEUTTLER was born at Wurtemberg in 1824. He was educated at the Basle Seminary, and went to the C.M. College, Islington, in 1848. He was ordained deacon by the Bishop of London in 1849, and went to Travancore the following year. He was ordained priest by the Bishop of Madras in 1851 . He worked for twelve years in Travancore. On his return to England he held various curacies till 1877, when he died. He was the author of Natural History in Malayalim.
